Davyd Arakhamiia, head of the Servant of the People presidential faction, confirmed on Friday that a Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Oleshky, Kherson Oblast. He stated that the evacuation of residents and the distribution of humanitarian aid have begun under the current ceasefire.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner, verified his presence in the town through a video posted to social media. Lubinets noted that the ceasefire, which started at 03:00 on October 27, has remained in effect for 80 hours. He said he is speaking directly with local residents to identify their most urgent needs.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced that 527 people from Oleshky will return to Ukrainian-controlled territory. The evacuation route runs through Russian and Belarusian territory before reaching Ukraine. The human rights office explained that this specific path was chosen based on the agreements reached between the Russian and Ukrainian sides.
The White House previously reported that US First Lady Melania Trump secured the truce in the occupied town. The Russian Defence Ministry also confirmed the introduction of the ceasefire. The agreed pause in hostilities is set to expire at 22:59 on November 1.
Arakhamiia emphasized that the delegation reached the area safely and that the ceasefire continues. He indicated that further details regarding the operation would follow as the process unfolds.
