The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 120-96 on Wednesday night, capitalizing on a sharpshooting display to secure a home victory. Cooper Flagg led the offense with 26 points and eight assists, while P.J. Washington contributed 18 points.
Dallas took control early, building a 12-point lead by halftime. The margin expanded to 27 points in the fourth quarter, pushing the Mavericks to a 3-2 record for the first time since Flagg arrived last fall. The team sank a season-high 16 three-pointers on 45 attempts, including 11 in the first half. By comparison, Oklahoma City made only five of its 32 attempts from deep, a season-worst 15.6% shooting percentage.
Kyrie Irving scored 15 points, hitting his first four shots from the field. It was his first home regular-season appearance since suffering a torn ACL in March 2025. Center Daniel Gafford also made history by sinking his first three-pointer in eight NBA seasons, a shot that came on his 2,384th career attempt.
The Thunder, now 4-1, played without Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, Chet Holmgren, and Alex Caruso due to injuries. Ajay Mitchell scored 29 points and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 21, but the depleted roster could not match Dallas' perimeter efficiency. It marked the first home win for first-year coach Dusty May.
Both teams return to action this weekend. The Mavericks host the Houston Rockets on Friday, while the Thunder travel to Houston for their game on Saturday.
