The 2026 WNBA Finals will conclude with a Game 7 on Saturday, October 31, in San Francisco, after the Atlanta Dream defeated the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6. This is the first time in league history that the championship series has required a final game.
The Dream took control early by scoring 32 points in the first quarter. They held off a late offensive push from Golden State to secure the victory. The win levels the series at 3-3, sending the two teams to a decisive contest on neutral ground in the Bay Area.
Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard combined for 44 points in the Game 6 win. Angel Reese contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds for Atlanta. Golden State struggled significantly from the field, shooting just 31% overall and 26% from behind the three-point line.
The Valkyries have been the top defensive unit in the league this season. They allowed opponents to score only 75.1 points per game during the regular season, which is 7.6 points fewer than the Washington Mystics in second place. They also ranked first in limiting opponent field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and assists.
The Dream possess strong defensive counters despite ranking second in the league on that metric. Atlanta is the best team in the WNBA at forcing turnovers. They also rank second in rebounds allowed per game, a category where Angel Reese has been a dominant factor. Reese is the current WNBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Golden State has lost only six games this season. They went through the regular season with five losses and suffered just one defeat in the playoffs prior to Game 6. That single postseason loss occurred in Game 2 of the Finals against Atlanta. The Valkyries would become the fastest expansion team to win a title if they prevail on Saturday.
Gabby Williams has elevated her performance in this series. In her first season with Golden State, she averages a career-high 14.4 points per game. In the Finals, her average has risen to 17.8 points per game. She recorded 26 points in Game 6, though she shot 8-for-22 from the field.
The betting odds for Saturday reflect a tight contest. DraftKings lists the Valkyries as 1.5 point favorites. The total points line is set at 143.5. The money line favors Atlanta at -108, while Golden State sits at -112. The series has featured close games, with all Golden State victories coming by fewer than 10 points.
All Atlanta victories in the series have been by double-digit margins. The Dream have not lost a postseason game when Angel Reese makes a three-point shot. She set a career high in points per game this season, averaging 16.4 while maintaining high efficiency and rebounding totals.
