Austin Simmons threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 23 Missouri to a 34-10 victory over Arkansas on Saturday night in Fayetteville. The Tigers, now 6-2, capitalized on three Arkansas fumbles and one interception to score 24 points off turnovers.
Missouri built a 13-7 halftime lead despite failing to score on its final drive of the first half. The offense woke up in the third quarter when Simmons connected with Donovan Olugbode on a 15-yard pass. Jamal Roberts followed with a two-yard rush, extending the Tigers' margin to 27-7 with 9:47 remaining.
Defensive pressure defined the early game. Darris Smith returned a fumble to the end zone late in the first quarter, giving Missouri a 10-0 lead. The Tigers forced Arkansas to settle for just 59 rushing yards on 36 attempts throughout the contest.
Roberts finished with 158 total yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 138 yards on 23 carries and caught three passes for 20 yards. With 7:19 left in the fourth quarter, Simmons hit Roberts for a 10-yard score to set the final margin.
Ahmad Hardy returned to the lineup after missing the first seven games. The All-American running back missed time after being wounded in a leg shooting at an outdoor concert in May. Hardy carried twice in the first quarter for five yards. Arkansas quarterback KJ Jackson completed 20 of 34 passes for 229 yards and added a rushing touchdown. The Razorbacks drop to 3-5.
