The Los Angeles Rams entered the final two minutes of the first half trailing by six points, having failed to gain a single first down in their first five possessions. That 5-drive skid marked the first time in Sean McVay's coaching career that his team had gone so long without moving the chains. The offense, which gained just 24 yards over its first 15 plays, looked lifeless against the winless Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The Rams' start was so sluggish that they trailed 9-3 in the waning moments of the second quarter, a deficit that threatened to extend their own losing streak.

Tutu Atwell broke the drought with a 40-yard reception that secured the Rams' first first down of the game. Kyren Williams, who was untouched on the subsequent play, rushed in for a touchdown with 19 seconds left in the half. The score gave the Rams a 9-9 tie at the break, erasing the early blow to their confidence. The shift in momentum was immediate, as the Rams abandoned their early struggles to take control of the second half.

Blake Corum led the Rams' offensive resurgence with 73 total rushing yards, including a graceful 23-yard touchdown run that extended the lead. Puka Nacua, who finished with 11 catches for 80 yards, added another score on an 18-yard pass from Matthew Stafford late in the third quarter. The combination of the ground game and the passing attack allowed the Rams to pull away, finishing with a 24-9 victory. Stafford completed his passes for 157 yards and one touchdown, guiding the team to its first back-to-back wins of the season.

The Chargers, now 0-7, extended their worst start to a season since 2000. Justin Herbert passed for 257 yards but threw two interceptions, a pattern that has occurred in all seven of his games this year. Head coach Mike McDaniel retained play-calling duties despite the winless record and called two successful flea-flickers in the second quarter to help move the offense. The Chargers' defense, however, could not contain the Rams' second-half surge, leaving the Bolts as the only winless team in the National Football League.

The physical toll of the game was evident in the injury reports. Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley injured his shoulder in the first quarter but returned to the field. Safety Derwin James, battling a hamstring injury, missed his fourth consecutive game and was placed on injured reserve on Saturday. For the Rams, cornerback Jaylen Watson injured his shoulder early in the second half and did not return, while Trent McDuffie suffered a back injury after returning from a two-game absence.

The Rams will travel to Washington on Sunday, looking to build on their recent momentum. The Chargers return home to host the Houston Texans, aiming to avoid an eighth straight loss. The matchup at SoFi Stadium remains the only true local rivalry in the city, with the Rams having won two of the three editions of this contest since the teams relocated to the Los Angeles area a decade ago.
