More than 4,000 people walked through Camden Yards on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The American Cancer Society organized the 25th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in the stadium's Lots B and C. This non-competitive walk is the largest breast cancer fundraiser in the region. Participants included hundreds of survivors, patients currently in treatment, family members, and delegations from local businesses.
Organizers stated that the money collected will fund scientific research for new treatments. They will also maintain the ACS's free assistance programs. These services provide free housing for patients traveling long distances for chemotherapy or radiation. The organization also covers transportation costs to medical centers to ensure treatment continuity. A 24/7 helpline offers phone support and information in Spanish throughout the year.
The Baltimore event was part of a statewide mobilization. Similar walks took place in Ocean City on the same day. Another walk occurred in Mount Airy the previous weekend. These events marked October as the central month for community action against breast cancer in Maryland.
The Society identified the event as a special silver edition. The gathering focused on increasing visibility for the disease while generating direct financial support for patients and research.
