Florida residents must cast their ballots by the end of this weekend if they wish to vote before Election Day.
The state has set specific closing times for early voting across its counties. Most jurisdictions stop accepting early votes on Saturday, October 31. A few counties, including Orange, Osceola, and Seminole, remain open through Sunday, November 1. This timeline allows voters to complete their civic duty before the main election date.
The 2026 general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3. Voters have had several weeks to participate in the early voting period. During this time, citizens can cast their ballots at any designated early voting site within the state. This flexibility allows people to vote at locations that are convenient for their schedules or workplaces. The registration deadline passed on October 5, meaning only registered voters can participate now.
Voters must bring a valid form of identification to the polls. Acceptable IDs include a Florida driver’s license, state ID card, or U.S. passport. Other accepted documents include military IDs, student IDs, and certain government-issued cards. A voter information card is useful for finding a polling place but does not serve as valid identification. Voters who do not have a photo ID with a signature may face challenges at the ballot box.
On Election Day, rules change regarding where voters can cast their ballots. Unlike the early voting period, citizens must go to their specific assigned polling location on November 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. The Panhandle region will operate on Central Time while the rest of the state uses Eastern Time. As long as a voter is in line by 7 p.m., they are permitted to cast their vote.
Initial results will begin appearing shortly after the polls close at 7 p.m. on November 3. These results will update continuously as each precinct completes its count. The Florida Division of Elections and local supervisors of elections manage the process. Voters can track the progress of the count through official county websites.
The deadline for early voting creates a clear end point for the pre-election phase. Voters in Orange County have until 8 p.m. on November 1 to vote. Those in Brevard County must finish by 4 p.m. on October 31. These specific times vary by county and require careful attention from voters.
