A 22-year-old mother was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to her arm after being caught in crossfire during an early morning argument near Louisville bars. Louisville Metro Police reported the incident occurred around 3 a.m. in an alley within the 1100 block of Bardstown Road, an area known for its nightlife.

The victim told reporters she had been attending a birthday celebration and was walking toward her parked car when she heard a group arguing nearby. She stated she did not know the individuals involved and believes the shooter was acting in self-defense. Despite the confusion, she managed to dial 911 before being transported to UofL Hospital for emergency surgery.

The woman described the physical toll of the injury, noting that the bullet traveled straight through her arm bone. She explained that she can no longer breastfeed her eight-month-old son or hold him comfortably. Her fiancé and child were waiting at home during the ordeal.

Her account differs from the initial public statement by the Atomic nightclub. That venue had previously identified the victim as the girlfriend of the man who fired the shots. The victim says she did not know the shooter and was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police have not reported any other injuries related to the shooting. Authorities have not yet indicated whether they will file charges in the case.

The victim said she will not return to the bars on Bardstown Road. She plans to focus on recovery at home while managing the physical limitations caused by the wound.
