The Los Angeles Chargers have lost their last 10 games, yet one specific trend has kept their offense alive: they have scored on their opening drive in six consecutive games while playing as home underdogs. That streak sits at the center of a betting strategy for Sunday's contest against the Houston Texans, where the Chargers are 4.5-point home dogs.

Sports bettors can wager on the Chargers scoring a touchdown on that first possession for odds of +353. A more precise bet on a passing touchdown returns +546, while a first-possibility rushing touchdown pays +1020. If the team opts for a field goal on the opening drive, the odds stand at +402.

The Chargers are one of several home underdogs on the Week 9 schedule that feature similar opening-drive trends. The Indianapolis Colts are 5.5-point underdogs against the Dallas Cowboys. The Miami Dolphins face the Detroit Lions as 7-point underdogs. The Minnesota Vikings will play the Buffalo Bills as 3.5-point underdogs on Monday night.

These matchups allow bettors to construct multi-leg parlays based on first-drive outcomes. SportsLine, a service that uses a computer model to simulate every NFL game 10,000 times, has identified a six-leg parlay for Week 9. The model suggests this specific combination could pay out well over $1.5 million for a $10 stake.

The simulation model has been active since 2024. It currently holds a 60-51 record on its top-rated picks. Players who have followed its top-rated selections with $100 bets have gained more than $5,000 since the model's inception.

One of the six legs in the proposed parlay focuses on Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams. The model backs Williams to accumulate 70 or more receiving yards against the Dolphins for +200 odds. Williams recorded 70 yards in the previous week against the Vikings, a unit that held the No. 1 defense in the league at the time.

The Dolphins present a contrasting defensive profile. Miami allows the highest passer rating, the highest completion percentage, and the most passing yards per attempt in the league. The team also records the fewest sacks. Miami has allowed a wide receiver to post 70-plus yards in each of the last three weeks.

Williams has averaged 77.5 receiving yards over his last four games. He reached the 70-yard mark in three of those outings, all against top-10 pass defenses. Although Miami ranks well against the run, allowing only 3.8 yards per carry, Detroit is projected to lean on the passing game. Projections for Williams stand at 72 receiving yards for the contest.

The remaining five legs of the parlay include two touchdown scorer props. Each of those specific props returns over +1200. The full six-leg combination is available through the SportsLine platform, which notes that the model has digested the current Week 9 odds to finalize its recommendations.

The parlay combines the Chargers' first-drive rushing touchdown, the Lions' receiving yards, and three other unspecified picks from the model's output. The service states that the full list of picks and the complete parlay structure are accessible only through its direct platform.
