TreVeyon Henderson, the New England Patriots running back, announced on Friday that he is suffering from an illness with an unknown cause following a hospitalization for unexplained neurological symptoms. The statement, posted on social media, confirms that the player has been out since last week and has missed practice sessions this week.

Henderson described the condition as an unexpected medical emergency that required several days in a hospital for extensive testing. He stated that while the results of his comprehensive medical evaluation are positive and reassuring, the root cause of the symptoms remains unexplainable. The illness has impacted his strength, coordination, and physical functions, necessitating ongoing work with specialists and physical therapists.

The running back emphasized that his long-term well-being is his primary focus. He credited his wife and his faith for providing support during the recovery process, quoting Romans 8:28 to express his peace in the situation. Henderson and his wife asked for continued prayers and privacy as they concentrate on his health.

Henderson has rushed 52 times for 203 yards and one touchdown this season. He also caught five passes for 45 yards. In his rookie campaign last year, he finished with 1,132 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns after being drafted in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

With Henderson out for the foreseeable future, the Patriots will rely on Rhamondre Stevenson as their lead back. Corey Kiner and Lan Larison will also see playing time. The team faces the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in the next two weeks before a bye week.

The Patriots will close the season with games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins. Henderson’s return will depend on his medical team identifying the cause of his symptoms and addressing them effectively.
