Tristan Aragon is currently held in the Warrensburg jail without bond.
Local police arrested the contractor on suspicion of taking more than $320,000 for commercial construction work that was never completed.
The Warrensburg Police Department opened a fraud investigation on May 5 within city limits.
Four business owners paid Aragon over $255,000 to finish projects on their properties, police said.
Investigators found that the work was not done as agreed and that supplies paid for by the victims were never ordered.
Aragon’s employees reported receiving bounced paychecks marked with insufficient funds.
Additional victims told officers they hired Aragon, paid him upfront, and never received the promised services.
Other local business owners said Aragon hired them as subcontractors but failed to pay for their services.
Police charged Aragon with four counts of stealing $25,000 or more and 14 counts of stealing $750 or more.
He also faces 10 counts of passing a bad check.
Formal charges had not yet appeared in CaseNet, the state’s online court records system, as of Wednesday, Nov. 4.
No court date has been set, and police have not released further details.
