Daily fantasy basketball players face a complex selection process on Wednesday as the NBA schedule expands to twelve games. This marks a sharp increase from the four contests played on Tuesday. The larger slate provides a deeper pool of eligible athletes but complicates lineup construction for users managing salary caps on platforms like DraftKings and FanDuel.
Mike McClure, a professional DFS player with more than $2 million in career winnings, has identified key targets for the upcoming slate. He serves as a predictive data engineer at SportsLine, where he utilizes a model that simulates every minute of each game 10,000 times. This process incorporates matchups, statistical trends, and injury reports to determine optimal values.
McClure lists Timberwolves point guard LaMelo Ball as a primary pick. Ball carries a salary of $7,700 on DraftKings and $7,900 on FanDuel. His role in Minnesota expands significantly with Anthony Edwards out for several months due to a knee injury. Ball averages 14.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 2.0 rebounds this season. He faces the Golden State Warriors, a team that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing point guards on both major sites.
The expert also favors Hawks guard CJ McCollum, who is priced at $5,300 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. McCollum is shooting 53% from the field and 44% from three-point range. He enters Wednesday's game against Miami having scored 20 or more points in his last four meetings with the Heat. During that span, he also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists. The Heat currently allow 121.8 points per game, ranking seventh highest in the league.
Other notable absences include Kawhi Leonard, who is also sidelined with a knee issue. These injuries shift offensive responsibility to other players on their respective teams. The presence of All-Stars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Nikola Jokic adds further complexity to the decision-making process for fantasy managers.
Rookies such as Caleb Wilson and Yaxel Lendeborg are also active on the slate. McClure indicates that his model has identified a specific player with an optimal matchup who could generate high numbers. This selection is presented as a critical factor in determining tournament and cash game outcomes for Wednesday's contests.
